Donut Day
Really?
Before I could laugh at
the ridiculous idea
of Donut
Day,
I stumbled across the reason
Americans introduced
National Donut Day.
It was a fundraiser,
introduced in 1938
to
raise money for
the Chicago Salvation Army.
The raised money was used
to support people
during the Great Depression
and to honour the women
who handed out donuts
during World War One
to the
soldiers in France.
I’m a fan of donut
day now!
(Though I still like to spell
donut this way: doughnut!)
