Oyster Day
Oysters
The ultimate food experience…
that’s what
they say…
at Oyster Australia,
anyway!
Ok, sounds like we need
 some
weird facts
to get us going…
Aussie farmers grow
three species of oysters.
 Oysters eat by filtering
nutrients and algae
from the water.
Most oysters change
their sex
during their lifetime.
A
female releases between
 20 and 40 million eggs
and males release
hundreds of
millions
of sperm when spawning!
Hundreds
of millions!
Apparently,
these
delicacies
are good for you, too!
One
mouthful of oyster
will give you
lots of vitamins
(C, D and all of the Bs!).
They are filled
with minerals, too.
 Only
four oysters a day
 and your daily
intake of calcium,
copper, magnesium,
iron,
zinc, iodine,
manganese and
phosphorous is covered!
Too easy…
Just one
problem…
You have to
 eat the oysters!
 Ok, I confess!
 I don’t love oysters!!
