Stress Awareness Day
(April is Stress Awareness Month)
So, Stress:
A little of it is good for us...
Think of that last minute rush
to get your assignment finished!
It can also be bad.
Stress can be defined as:
“The adverse reaction
people have to excessive pressures
or other types
of demand put on them.”
Stress is unhealthy –
for your mind, body or both.
When we’re stressed,
our body kicks into overdrive
– our heart rate
and breathing speed up
and our blood pressure rises.
Too much stress
can actually make us
physically sick,
as well as shaking
our confidence,
increasing our anxiety
and making us angry,
bitter and hostile.
We can feel it through
head ache, backache,
stomach problems, insomnia,
over or under eating...
and poor skin.
I guess, we have to work hard
to overcome the stress –
before it overcomes us!
The answers seem easy –
Chill out with your friends,
go for a walk,
breathe deeply,
set realistic goals
and avoid caffeine.
The other thing to do –
talk.
Tell someone.
Share the load!
And, in case
you still feel stressed –
here’s a funny picture...
to make you smile!
